I read this title to an opinion piece in Haaretz and burst out laughing: Is Israel too subservient to the U.S.? The real title is Is Israel becoming a banana republic? (but I prefer the one on Haaretz's main page).
According to the author, Israel is basically kowtowing to the US, by letting the US nix a military deal with China, stop some settler construction, and want international watchers in the flotilla investigation. Let's forget how many times Israel has completely blown off its promises by starting new settlements and generally doing whatever the hell it wants without regard to international law. By all means, let's let Israel be independent. Tell the US Congress to stop financing it.
